A great end to our week! These gorgeous farm buildings have been rescued and will have new life given to them for a sustainable future. Today, HUB have gained Planning Approval for the restoration of a Victorian Farmyard to provide 4 homes, including the conversion of a Stone Barn and Smithy near the Earls Barton Conservation Area in Northamptonshire.
The proposals enhance the character of the area and the wider setting of the village.
A glazed link will form the connection between the Stone Barn and its associated extension, resulting in a sympathetic approach that maintains a breathing space between the existing and new development, whilst not dominating the barn.

Hub Architects have been invited by Octagon Developments to complete their design for the West Lodge on the Broadoaks Estate. Built prior to 1896, West Lodge is part of the wider development of the Estate and forms part of the curtilage buildings associated with the Grade 11 Mansion House on the site. The West Lodge building is typical of the Gothic Revival style which is undergoing restoration and refurbishment to enhance historic value. @hub_architects_and_designers and @simon.watkins.3720 have been working on a proposal for new homes on this small former farmyard site in a semi rural setting. At the heart of this proposal is the preservation and re-use of a handsome stone barn. The character of the barn is saved by preserving the setting and retaining existing features such as the original feeding troughs in the yard. Hub has completed the conversion of the end bay of a 17th century Tythe barn near Broadway, Worcestershire. 2 planning and listed building applications were approved for the restoration and change of use from garden store to habitable annex. The barn has been gently restored with respect for the original fabric and the addition of some sensitive modern features.
